Bettyann Pober... Watercolors of Florida Flora , Figures, and oddball stuff.

I have lived in Miami, Florida for many years. My art has  been influenced by the glorious vegetation and the amazing light.  My initial watercolor paintings were landscape, but for the last 15 years I have been focused on loosely painted and slightly  abstracted figurative imagery.  Collage is another interest, and many of my pieces have elements of that as well as the predominant media of watercolor.

Artists Statement:

“My work is primarily about the natural world in which we all live: leaves, flowers,

landscapes and the human form.  It is also about the energy and spontaneity of life.

The images are recognizable, but are not exact replicas of any specific scene or figure.

The direct and immediate way in which I apply watercolor is vital to the way I work.

I usually by-pass the routine method of creating a series of sketches prior to painting.  Sketching lines are done directly on the paper and are not erased.  I feel by using

watercolor in a fluid and often unpredictable way, I can achieve

a sense of our natural world that has the ebb and flow of my reality.”  Bettyann
